Well I should be busy packing our suit cases, but (there is always a but) instead we are waiting for a phone call to say that Ethan’s passport has been printed. We have decided that Martin and Laura will stay here with Ethan and I, this after Laura said she would rather stay with her Mummy than leave her here on her own. To add insulate to injury I have now come down with a stomach bug so we are not able to go anywhere as I need to stay close to the bathroom. The sun is shining and it is warm out which is one good thing. Yesterday we did venture out to the KLM office to see about changing our flights, this was not the best of news either. If we have Ethan’s passport by Monday we could fly out on Tuesday night, we would have to spend the night in Amsterdam airport, there is a hotel in the airport as we cannot take Ethan into Holland without a visa, we then would fly to Canada on Wednesday, otherwise we cannot fly out till Friday April 16. This all hinges on getting Ethan’s Passport. So right now our spirits are very low, and longing for home. We like Ukraine but after almost 9 weeks it is time for our own bed.
So due to me we have been stuck in the apartment, Ethan has given us a laughs with his exploring of things, and Laura has been busy hanging laundry on her rope on the balcony.
One good thing is that spring has surely sprung; the flowers are blooming, the bugs are buzzing and the song birds are singing. There is a botanical garden near the apartment which is full of coal and blue tits (birds about the size of chickadees) and black birds (which are the size of North American robins) and of course the tiny English/European robin.
Stay tuned for the next update which I so hope is good news for us.
Love
Jenny, Martin, Laura and Ethan
