No court date yet

Wednesday, March 17 2010

Happy St. Patrick’s Day but there was no green over here.

Today was a day for shopping for Ethan before Natasha left for Kiev. We picked up some shoes, which turned out to be too big, spoons, bibs, toy, bottle etc. We then got a call from the lawyer to come and sign the papers for court. We were picked up by a taxi and driven across town; the one thing I noticed was that there are some houses in the city, not like you would see at home, although it does look like there are some new houses of brick. Some of them still have asbestos rooves. Once at the lawyers we saw another clothing store and were able to pick up a new outfit for Ethan before going into the lawyers office. We read over the paper or should I say Natasha translated the papers for us, we then signed them. So we are set for court and just have to wait for the date. It was then to the court house for Natasha to drop and register the papers. We found out that the court house is just down the road from the orphanage in walking distance, I am sure when court is done we will run down the street to get Ethan. It was then off to see Dmitro for a short visit but none the less a good one. We again got to feed him and they put his drink in the bottle we had got for him to try and he did well with it. I should explain that he can drink out of a cup, but when travelling we would like him to have a sippy cup. We tried him with the one we had brought with us but he could not do it. So for now we are going back to a bottle to get us home.
It was then back to the apartment to say goodbye to Natasha as she would be on the overnight train back to Kiev. After dropping Natasha off at the train station via taxi we then went to the internet cafe/restaurant for a bite to eat and to catch up on the web. The food that we had was traditional Ukrainian cuisine and very well met the needs of our pallets. And at this time we would also like to thank all that have emailed us for that brings us a little closer to home and appreciate all the congratulations.....he is adorable isn’t he!

It was our first day on our own, and we survived, we caught the bus no problems and it was a tame ride. Once at the orphanage they got Dmitro ready for us and he came in smiling. It was a just a day of playing with all the different toys we have, he got very excited when the bubbles came out again, Laura got her real first taste of her brother wanting what she had, namely her paper she was drawing on, every chance he had he would try to grab for it. We again got to feed him and he really does very well. It was then home a little school work for Laura and supper. Our day is about 5 hours long from the time we leave the apartment to getting back.

Well that’s about it for this time, we are hoping to hear on Friday when our court date is and we will let you know when that happens.

Take care

Jennifer, Martin, Laura and Ethan.

Not much to tell today, my cold is a pain in the butt I am going through tissues like no tomorrow I really wish it would go away and I could enjoy myself more and not feel so tired. We saw Ethan today and he seemed a little tired as well. He likes to play with the strollers that are in the room with us, by checking out all the wheels, harness ect. we are sure he will be right at home with Daddy and his Uncles on the bikes. Bubbles are still a big hit with him, and he is a real go getter likes to be moving all the time, should be an eventful plane ride home. Laura was also tired today and layed down for a nap during our visit.

We have not heard about our court date but our still hoping for next week.
