Meet the newest Member of our family
Hello everyone, thank you to everyone who is sending emails of support, they are wonderful to receive and hear from folks.
Well as Paul told you we are now in Zaporizhzhia, it is very different from Kiev, much more working class. We are in an apartment on the edge of town which is ok but we are back to having a lack of cutlery and cooking utensils. We have zero English speaking TV stations, although we did watch the Ukraine version of America’s got talent and you don’t need to understand to watch. Our facilitator is staying with us until at least Tuesday or Wednesday she then will head back to Kiev to do paperwork.
Ok now I have filled you in on our surroundings more about our newest member of the Family. That’s right it is a go with this little guy he is HEALTHY. HORRAY. His name will be Ethan William Dmitri Waterland; his birthday is January 16, 2008 that makes him 2 years 3 months old. He weighs about 20lbs, which is small for a 2 year old but we all know what good food can do for the body. He has a touch of Bronchitis right now and is a separate area away from his group. We have noticed that in the 4 days we have seen him he is getting better and more full of life. Today he went to walk to an area that he could not go, so I grabbed his arm to stop him and he tried to push my hand of of his, and then fell to the floor. We have had him laughing and he has warmed up to us well. Laura has played well with him throwing a ball to him and singing to him. We had Dr. Anna from Kiev fly down to look at him and she read the medical reports on him and examined him and she gave him the all clear, which was one very big weight, lifted off our shoulders. So now the paper work begins tomorrow. We are hoping to be back in Kiev for Easter and fly home like Paul said around the week of April 12 (2 months since we left) we are hoping that all the government agencies pull their weight and get us home quickly.
We do not have internet in the apartment so we are sitting in a restaurant that has wifi for free. We will be able to check emails and the blog from here at least every other day or so. I am attempting as I type this to put video of the little guy on you tube, I have put some pictures up of him. I am sure there is more I can tell you but my mind is not working very well and cannot think. Next time I am going to type it at the apartment and then put it on the blog that way. Lol
So we have finally reached the goal we set out for a month ago and what a wonderful feeling it is. I knew that when we got to this point it would all be worth it and I was right but never thought it would take this long. We cannot what for you all to meet him.

Yay!!!! Welcome to the party Ethan. He looks really cute, although I'm not sure a picture of him drooling is the best choice. Mind you it reminds me of his dad. Good to hear Laura has taken to him, I cannot begin to imagine what she really thinks to it all. Well congratulations...praying the next few weeks fly buy and we can have you ALL home soon.

ReplyDeleteMy parents came to visit yesterday (Sunday) and we showed them Ethan's pictures. They both think he's adorable and are so happy for you. They wanted me to send on their well-wishes for you guys.
We can't wait for you to get home now, it must have been so great to sign off the last entry as a family of four! Congrats Jenny:) and to you Martin :) We love you guys ... Give Laura a big hug from her Auntie and Uncle - we miss you all
