Snow and Jet Lag

We are having a lot of problems with our internet, one day it works then it does not the next, we will get it for 1 minute then it is down, talk about frustrating and I thought Rogers internet was bad. Oh and then there is the weather snow, snow and more snow. The first few days were good but then it seems to have snowed each day since and they do not seem to have a lot of shovels, I think we should have brought shovels let alone anything else. As I am typing this my internet has dropped its signal yet again. The big problem with the snow is that a lot of the sidewalks are made of tile, granite on steps, flat slippery brick, so with the soft snow it is treacherous under foot, with all the hills we have to climb. This does not include the areas where there is 4" of ice on the sidewalk and it is not smooth but rutted and uneven and polished, then with the soft (wet like) snow on top I am amazed we have not yet fallen on our butts, mind you it has come very very, very close.

Saturday we went to the area called St. Andrews Decent, this is a hill with all vendors on the sidewalk selling every kind of souvenir you can think of. We only got a little way down, when we decided to abandon the trip due to sleet coming down and the side walk being too icy. We ended up coming back to the apartment as it was really cold with the wind. Our faces were frozen solid.
Last night we went over to Helen and Dave's place for supper along with the other couple Wendy and Peter, it was a great night out and we did not get home till 1am. It really is nice to have people to go talk to. Helen and Dave have a really nice apartment, and Martin and I have both agreed that if we end of staying in Kiev then we will see if we can upgrade. We are all planning on going ice skating at Independence Square tomorrow. For those of you who do not realize we did not bring our own skates we rent them.

Seeing as we were so late last night we did not get up till 11:30 this morning, we are all still struggling with the jet lag and the fact that we have not seen sun in 7 days now.

Tomorrow Monday we will go back to the SDA and hope they give us another appt. before the end of next week.

Well that is about it for now and hopefully we will have good news tomorrow.
